New sculpture in Konsthallen Hishult Sculpture Park. 2022

 

“You could say that Lars-Åke Åberg is a house builder. The majority of his sculptures are like tiny houses. They are archetypes, prototypes. Closed and bare, they stand there with their four walls and their simple gable roofs. Are they our collective image and wish for the safety of a house in an unsafe world?
From start Lars-Åke Åberg is a painter. A painter who searches all over the world for stones in different colors. His true nature is quickly revealed when he chooses his materials and surface finishes. The black diabas, from the southmost parts of Småland and northeast Skåne, becomes a growing part of his palette. With it, the house can stand highly polished on top of a coarse formation, recently collected from the quarry in Såganäs”.

From the book about Lars-Åke Åberg, planned to be released in 2023 by publisher Edition Lilla Eneskär. Author is Mailis Stensman, known for over 20 books about art and design.

A Group Exhibition about Fragility and Beauty. Together with Bernt Hermele & Cato Lein, LG Lundberg, Hans Olofsson, Alva Sjöstedt, Per Inge Björlo, Sigurdur Gustafsson, Åsa Jungelius and Mats Theselius.
